— город в Япония|Японии, на юго-западе о. Хонсю, административный центр префектуры Префектура Хиросима|Хиросима.
Население — более 1,15 млн. человек, площадь — 905 кв. км.
История Хиросимы восходит к XVI веку, когда местный феодал построил здесь белоснежный Замок карпа (Ридзё).
Машиностроительная, текстильная, химическая, военная и др. промышленность. Университет.
6 августа 1945 года 8:15 по местному времени американский бомбардировщик B-29 «Enola Gay», пилотируемый Полом Тибитсом и бомбардиром Томом Фереби, Атомные бомбардировки Хиросимы и Нагасаки|сбросил на Хиросиму первую атомная бомба|атомную бомбу. Значительная часть города была разрушена, за первые полгода после бомбардировки умерли 140 тыс. человек.
В 1951—52 гг. был основан Архитектурно-парковый символический ансамбль Парк Мира.
Экономика
Главной отраслью промышленности Хиросимы являютcя автомобили Mazda, и судостроение (Куре был одной из главных морских баз Имперского японского Флота и остается главным коммерческим местом).
