Шту́тгарт () — город в Германия|Германии, столица земли Баден-Вюртемберг. Имея население около 600 тыс. человек (июнь 2004), Штутгарт занимает по этому показателю шестое место в ФРГ.
География
Штутгарт расположен в центре территории Баден-Вюртемберг|Баден-Вюртемберга на берегах реки Неккар (река)|Неккар.
История
Еще в античную эпоху на месте нынешнего города располагалась баденского маркграфа. В XIII веке маркграф Германн V пожаловал поселению статус города.
В XIV веке в результате династического брака город попал в состав графства Вюртембергского (которое впоследствии стало герцогством, а затем курфюршеством) и начал быстро развиваться. Вплоть до 1918 г. Штутгарт оставался столицей и главной резиденцией Вюртембергской династии.
Экономика
В настоящее время Штутгарт является мощным центром высокотехнологической и машиностроительной отраслей. Здесь расположены представительства таких международных корпораций, как DaimlerChrysler, Porsche, Robert Bosch GmbH, Hewlett-Packard и IBM. Фондовая биржа Штутгарта — вторая по значимости торговая площадка Германии (после франкфуртской).
Транспорт
Штутгарт — важный транспортный узел Германии. К югу от города имеется аэропорт международного значения.
