Брисбен () — крупный город на восточном побережье Австралия|Австралии. Административный центр штата Квинсленд. Население — 1,8 млн. человек, это третий по численности после Сидней|Сиднея и Мельбурн|Мельбурна город страны.

История

Изначально территория современного Брисбена была заселена коренными жителями, еще за долго до появления европейцев.

В 1823 исследовательская группа во главе с Оксли, Джон|Джоном Оксли, спустилась вниз по реке и дошла до отметки, которая сейчас известна как Брисбенский Бизнес Центр.

Квинсленд образовался в 1859 и Брисбен, получивший свое название в честь Брисбен, Томас Макдугалл|Сэра Томаса Брисбена, был провозглашен его столицей.

Забавно, что в то время Брисбен не являлся городом, как таковым. Он представлял из себя двадцать отдельных муниципалитетов. И только в 1925 году город получил статус Брисбен Сити.
